Passion & Courage In Business – A Recipe For Success

Work with your passion written on calendar

Passionate people are are often known for their bravery, their risk taking and their focus - they don’t get sidetracked.

Passion Is Infectious

At the heart of the passion in our business, is Rex Prebble. He joined Christchurch Electrical as Service Manager, he is now the Managing Director of a successful electrical firm with over 90 staff - but that didn’t happen by chance.

Over the years, Rex’s infectious passion for the business along with his drive and motivation has been inspiration for many.

His individual passion is translated on a daily basis into a drive, a focus for quality service delivery and relationship building that is hard to match.

When asked in a recent interview what advice he would give his younger self, he said he would tell him to get his career underway as soon as possible. To undertake more personal development and gain more sales experience at an earlier stage, which is no surprise as Rex has always been an inherently competitive person with a strong willingness to strive and succeed. His commitment to his passion and growth mindset from the start is clear.

Without this unwavering commitment, would the business be where it is today? Probably not, but is the passion of one person enough to create long term success?

One Man’s Passion Isn’t Enough

As the saying goes, no man is an island. Rex attributes the success of the business in part, to the nurturing of passion within the management team for their own specialist services and for the business as a whole - that is dedication they in turn flow through to their staff and the service delivered to their clients.

Courage In Business Leadership

Courage in leadership is not about having all of the answers yourself, it’s about having confidence and self belief that you have the necessary skills to take your team forward without being arrogant - its a balancing act. Having a growth-mindset as a leader allows self development, development of others, the knowledge and bravery to admit you do not know it all and the ability to see the potential in others, how they can solve problems and create opportunities.

Building specialist teams with knowledgeable, passionate, authentic people at the helm is the winning formula for Christchurch Electrical.

Deliver on your promises printed on paper, pinned to board

Commitment To Deliver

Passion is one of our core values at Christchurch Electrical, we live and breathe it. “We love what we do and it shows in our dedication and commitment to deliver.”

People who are motivated by a desire to see the business succeed such as Rex, are naturally inspiring, and their conviction is contagious. Business leaders often talk about leading by example, and commitment is a key component of that quality. The more you believe in what you’re doing and the more you want to achieve success, the more likely others will be to follow you.

Passion & Bravery Lead To Exciting Opportunities

Throughout the years, Rex and his teams have taken some brave steps to respond to the ever changing client market. A growing number of services have been added or expanded, always maintaining the same level of commitment to deliver each new offering by employing specifically skilled individuals, creating new brands and divisions and investing in equipment and training of staff.

Those leaps of faith (we like to call them well considered calculated risks) have lead to the company being able to offer a large suite of services to the residential, commercial, industrial and rural markets throughout Canterbury. From complete electrical services including 24/7 response, through to communications, HVAC, solar and plumbing - one call really does it all!

Even the Canterbury Earthquakes, a challenging time for many businesses and individuals alike, lead to expansion opportunities for Christchurch Electrical. With some vision, passion and commitment to plough through the disruption and difficulties the team could see the way ahead and excelled in the face of adversity.

What The Future Holds

There is always a new challenge or new technologies in our industry and with an open mind, a desire to excel and that all important passion for what we do - the future is bright - and that’s exciting.
