LED Lighting & Upgrades

LED Lighting & Upgrades

Save money, lower power consumption, reduce your carbon footprint

Discover how you can reduce power consumption & save money by installing energy efficient LED lighting. At Christchurch Electrical, we specialise in upgrading incandescent & halogen lighting to more energy efficient, longer lasting LED systems that save energy & reduce running costs. Our team of experts can step you through the process of upgrading your lighting to LED in your home or business.

What is LED Lighting?

LED stands for Light Emitting Diode. LED is the most energy-efficient & rapidly developing lighting technology. Quality LED light lamps or light fittings last longer, are more durable & offer comparable or improved light quality in comparison to other types of lighting.

Halogen Lights v LEDs

The largest difference between halogen & LED is the power-saving properties of LED lighting. LED lighting is vastly superior to halogen, lasting over 10 times longer whilst consuming 85% less electricity.

Why Switch To LED Lighting?

  • Long lifespan: 50 times longer than incandescent. We recommend Switch Lighting LED products; they use the best quality components available & they rate their LED units with a lifespan of up to 60,000 hours (30 years)
  • Efficiency: LED uses up to 90% less power
  • Temperature: LEDs emit 20-50% less heat, in comparison, incandescent lighting releases 90% of their energy as heat & CFLs release about 80% of their energy as heat
  • Colour variety: available in multiple colour options
  • Dimming capabilities
  • Instant lighting: LED lights can be switched on and off instantly (no warm up/cool down)
  • Low voltage operation
  • Environmental: LED lighting lasts longer, contains no mercury, produces less waste & are made from recyclable materials. A building’s carbon footprint from lighting can be reduced by nearly 90% by changing incandescent lighting for new LED’s.
  • Exceptional lighting: good quality LED lighting will have excellent diffusing techniques spreading the light evenly
  • Slimline design
  • No flicker: especially significant if you suffer from migraines
  • Insulation safe options available

Can I Use My Existing Fittings?

Do you need to change your existing fittings when you get an LED lighting upgrade? There can be occasion where the existing fitting can be used (though the transformer may need changing) however the quality of your LED lamp is only as good as the driver & light fitting, when an LED lamp fails, it is often the controller that has failed in the first instance & the lamp is simply unable to work.

LED Products & Uses

The range of LED products is rapidly expanding & is now available across a wide variety of home & business applications:

  • Recessed downlights: commonly used in residential kitchens, bathrooms & hallways, as well as a number of commercial settings
  • Christmas lights
  • Under-cabinet lighting: as LEDs are small & directional, they are ideal for lighting tight spaces such as countertops for cooking & reading recipes
  • Commercial & industrial lighting: the high efficiency & directional nature of LEDs makes them ideal for many industrial uses. LEDs are frequently used in streetlights, parking garage lighting, walkway & outdoor area lighting, refrigerated case lighting, modular lighting, & task lighting
  • Outdoor/landscape lighting

Commercial Lighting LED Solutions

The team at Christchurch Electrical can help you find the right lighting solution for your commercial property, medical centre, school, pre-school, restaurant, manufacturing plant or office building whether it be a new build or a retrofit & ensure a smooth installation process.

LED lighting is the preferred option for commercial buildings because these spaces tend to have high light output with long operating hours. As LEDs offer extended lifespans, lower energy consumption & less maintenance requirements, they are the perfect solution for building owners to save money, operate more efficiently & improve the customer & employee experience.

How Can LEDS Benefit Your Business?

There is a long list of advantages with LEDs for commercial application:

  • Extended life
  • Lower energy consumption
  • Reduced maintenance requirements
  • Improved customer & staff experience
  • Range of colours: from warm white light to cool white light (2700K to 4000K)
  • Dimmable with control
  • Instant on/off: no slow warm up time
  • LEDs can be used in smaller spaces
